Our keynote speaker at the Houston Doing Business Globally conference is Stephen Munger, Managing Director and Chairman, Global M&A at Morgan Stanley.
Mr. Munger is an industry thought leader on cross-border transactions. He and Morgan Stanley have continually broken new ground in advising clients on strategic transactions and global expansion. Mr. Munger will join our conference in Houston to share his insider’s view on global M&A trends and how to harness these trends to grow your business in today’s complex environment.
As head of Morgan Stanley’s M&A Department, Mr. Munger has extensive experience covering a variety of assignments in many different industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, retail, chemicals, basic materials, financials and energy.
Notable transactions that Mr. Munger has led include, among many others:
- BP’s acquisition of ARCO
- Monsanto’s merger with Pharmacia
- The merger of Sears and KMart
- Unocal’s acquisition by Chevron
- Guidant’s acquisition by Boston Scientific
Mr. Munger has held several managerial roles at Morgan Stanley in addition to heading the Mergers & Acquisitions Department. From 1997 through 1999, Steve was head of the Private Investment Department of Investment Banking, in 1994 he was Deputy Head of Global Corporate Finance, and in 1993 he served as Global Operations Officer for Investment Banking. Steve also served as Chairman of the Global Energy Group.
Mr. Munger was named a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley in 1992, and joined the Firm in 1988, having previously worked in the M&A Department of Merrill Lynch.
Mr. Munger graduated from Dartmouth College in 1979 and the Wharton School in 1983. He is a trustee of Mystic Seaport and the Tucker Foundation of Dartmouth College.
